Family Gathering Trip - Day 2 England - London

We awoke after about 12 hours sleep to a lovely sunny day. London was being kind to us with two sunny days in a row.

We headed off to the tube station as we were going to Tufnell Park today so Mum could see her old neighbourhood.

We had spoken to my cousin Dominic and he said that he would be our chauffeur for the day so we organised to meet him at Dalmeny Road in Tufnell Park.

Start of the trip - Warren Street tube Station.

We stopped at Tufnell Park Station.

We walked the route Mum used to take as a child so she could see how it has changed in the 50 years since she had left.

Dalmeny Road, the street Mum grew up on.

No. 40 Mum's childhood home.

Before the second world war my Grandparents lived in Finsbury Park but they were bombed out, they then moved to Tufnell Park and rented No. 40 and managed to purchase this house after Mum had left for Australia in 1963. In 1972, three years after my Grandmother died, my Grandfather sold No. 40 and moved to Australia, he arrived 6 weeks after I was born.

This is the Church where Mum went to Sunday School. It was Church of England, they went there as the Catholic Church was to far away.

The back of Dalmeny Rd. The third sticking out bit along is No.40.

Dom came and picked us up and took us to New Southgate Cemetery. This is where my Grandmother and Doms parents are buried. Mum had never been to her mothers grave before.

My Grandmother, Uncle John & Aunty Maureen's Grave.

Dom then took us for a drive in the "country" and showed us where some famous people lived, apparently a lot of the young footballers live in this area.

We then went to a park area to have a cuppa and a chat.

 Mum, Dom, Dad & myself.

Dom has a very nice Mercedes as a company car.

We had organised to meet up with our cousin Michael, his wife Emma & daughter Mia for lunch at a pub near by, we passed through some nice countryside to get there.

The Cowper Arms is a lovely pub.

Having a Guinness.

Michael & Emmas dog Mack.

Michael, Mia & Emma.

Myself, Dad, Mum, Michael, Mia, Emma & Dom.

Our lunch ended up being dinner as we ate so late.

We had a lovely day and evening catching up with Dom & Michael and getting to meet Emma & Mia. Hopefully it won't be another 12 years before we all get to catch up again.

Dom then drove us back to Tufnell Park Station so we could head back to the apartment.
We got back to the apartment at about 8 pm, it stays light till about 9.30 pm.

The BT Tower from our apartment window.
